Mbale district is located northeast of Uganda and it is 245km by road from Kampala city and its coordinates are 1°04'50.0"N, 34°10'30.0"E (Latitude:1.080556; Longitude:34.175000). Mbale also lies on the rail from Tororo to Pakwach.
It also has numerous areas of interest like Mountan Elgon one of the oldest extinct volcanoes in East Africa being one of its major attractions, Mount Elgon national park which hosts numerous flora and fauna, over 257 bird species. The three famous Sipi falls, public facilities like the central market and municipal stadium.
